Aliya Coin

The Ingathering of the Exiles is the foundation of the State of Israel. As recognized in the 1948 Declaration of Independence, the "Law of the Return'" which guarantees that "Every Jew has the right to come to this country."

This set commemorates the Jewish Agency, which prepares Jews around the world for Aliya (Ascension). The collapse of the Iron curtain set in motion the 1991 “Aliya” of Russian Jews to their ancestral homeland.


Description of the Coin

Front

The arrival of Russian immigrants with a jet airplane in the background. The "Freedom Flight". The inscription in English and Hebrew, "I will gather them out of all countries, Jeremiah 32:37".

Reverse

The denomination "1, 2 or 10" from top to bottom with the State Emblem. The date "1991/5751" and "New Sheqel" or "New Sheqalim" in Hebrew and English. "Israel" in Hebrew, English and Arabic.

The uncirculated silver coin is mintmarked with a 6 pointed star below the State Emblem. The proof coins are mintmarked with a Hebrew 'mem'.

Uncirculated: A Mint State coin struck on a standard planchet. The coin displays a matte type appearance. A small six pointed "Star of David" mintmark struck on the "Aliya" coin below the State Emblem.

Proof: A coin which was made with special care. The coins are struck using polished dies. The planchets are specially selected and polished. The coins exhibit a mirror-like surface in the fields and a frosted appearance on the raised points of the coin. A small Hebrew 'mem' mintmark is struck on the "Aliya" coin below the State Emblem.
