This Commemorative Coin issued by the Bank of Israel highlights one of the most important principles in mankind, "Loving one's Neighbor as Oneself". The coin displays a combination of gateways symbolic of the passageway to the new age.
Coin Description FrontThe design is a combination of three ancient gateways, of Oriental and Western styles, with the inscription "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself" in English, Hebrew and Arabic. The gate is symbolic of an entrance and passageway to a new age. Within the gateway on the coin are two doves, symbolizing mankinds yearning to enter the gates of a world of hope, harmony and peace. Reverse The denomination "1, 2 or 10" in the center of the coin. The year of issue "5760/2000" and "New Sheqel" or "New Sheqalim" in Hebrew and English. The word "Israel" in Hebrew, English and Arabic. The inscription, "Independence Day" in Hebrew and English. The State Emblem at the top. NIS-New Israel Sheqalim
