"HIGH-TECH" in ISRAEL 1999/5759 Israel's 51st Anniversary Commemorative Coin Set Silver & Gold Coins Issued by the Bank of Israel
The High Tech industry currently accounts for two-thirds of Israeli exports. The field is composed of some 2000 companies with over 200 start-ups each year. The census reports that a greater concentration of scientists and technicians are in the Israeli workforce than the United States, Japan, and Germany. A figure of 140 per 10,000 workers. Over 100 Israeli companies are now traded on the U.S. Stock Exchange. Multinational Corporations such as Motorola, Intel, and IBM have established subsidiaries in Israel. Many other corporations have merged with Israeli companies. Foreign investment in Israel in this area has dramatically increased in the last decade. Israel's achievements will hopefully advance the whole Middle East region into a new era of prosperity and peace.
Coin Description Front A growing tree formed with binary numbers, the trunk as a printed circuit. The inscription below, "High-Tech In Israel" in Hebrew and English. Reverse The denomination "1, 2 or 10" in the center. A bit map at the right. The year of issue, "5759/1999" in Hebrew and English and "New Sheqel" or "New Sheqalim. The word "Israel" in Hebrew, English and Arabic. The State Emblem above the denomination. The inscription, "Independence Day " in Hebrew and English. NIS-New Israel Sheqalim
